HORECA clothing on a makeover

11 April 2025

Workwear in the hospitality industry has undergone a drastic change. It has long since radiated colourfulness, modernity and diversity, as can be seen every year at Internorga.
They have been around for a long time: workwear collections especially for food bakeries and pastry shops, for gastronomy and the hotel business. But while the collections used to be dominated typically by limited selection of colours, the picture has long since changed. Nowadays the stuff wears clothing that fits into the corporate design of a firm. Gone are the days of the white, starched and immaculately smooth ruffled apron, that typical marked a waitress who took the order of Black Forest gateau and cream meringue. Gone are the days in which the waitress of a café wore a huge pink bow in her hair and an apron in the colours of the German Confectioners' Association, thus hardly standing out from the range of goods on offer in the cake showcase. Even the dreary black and white, which can still be seen today in upscale gastronomy, are passé. Instead, the manufacturers of gastronomy clothing turned to a vibrant style. An extensive colour palette, which runs consistently through all parts of the collection, enables every baker, café, bar and restaurant to put together their own individual corporate wear. A clever combination of top, trousers and aprons offers even more scope to optically underline the different functions of the staff. There are hardly any limits: gastronomy collections always include coordinated women's and men's models and a design that increasingly is oriented towards fashion: trousers in slim fit, hip or 5-pocket cuts, bistro aprons in mini format, tank tops and much more. And because professional fashion wants to keep up with the important trends in the fashion industry, Internorga trade show surprises every year with new outfits that are really fun!
